Karin Mavromatis

The story

Spring Bowen Therapy was established by Karin Mavromatis after she discovered the benefits of Bowen therapy. Formerly sceptical of anything remotely ‘alternative’, that all changed after Karin was injured in a car accident and her recovery using conventional treatments stalled. At a friend’s recommendation, she tried Bowen therapy to treat her pain and was amazed at the effects it had not only on her recent injuries but also on pre-existing conditions. Intrigued, she decided to study Bowen therapy to find out more about how it worked – and just happened upon her passion. After basing herself in clinics around the Eastern suburbs area for a number of years, Karin decided to open up her own Bowen therapy clinic (located on Carrington Road in North Randwick) in 2019.

After becoming a Bowen therapist, Karin would often apply Bowen moves to family and friends’ pets who crossed her path and loved seeing how they responded (lots of sleepy faces and many ‘thank you’ licks afterwards!) Being an animal lover, she decided to study Bowen therapy for small animals and received her qualification in 2019.

It was also around this time that Karin became a Reiki master after being introduced to energy healing a number of years prior (and having to put her scepticism to the side once again in the process!) She loves introducing new clients to the unique treatment that is the Bowen therapy and Reiki combination and hearing about their individual experiences after the treatment.

Karin takes great satisfaction at seeing improvements in (human and animal) clients’ physical and emotional health and wellbeing and ensures that care is given in providing a relaxing environment for clients. Mindful of the fact that sometimes people can feel anxious or cautious in regards to treatment, especially in cases of chronic conditions, Karin takes care in explaining the processes involved in a way that each client understands and has confidence in.

Karin is a member of the Bowen Association of Australia (BAA) and the International School of Bowen Therapy (ISBT). In addition to a Diploma of Specialised Bowen Therapy and qualification for the treatment of small animals in Bowen therapy, she holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology and has a Master of International Relations.
